The winner of the April Entrepreneur of the Month Award, co-sponsored by the Chamber and the Atlanta Journal Constitution, has been a member of the Chamber since 2007.

Diane Oberkrom, owner and founder of Soul Food, Inc. is also known as The Soul Food Market.com.  Diane’s journey as a prayerful baker began with an unexpected tragedy when her husband passed away suddenly in 2005.  In the days following her husband’s death Diane began dreaming of delicious muffins & cookies made from the freshest fruits and the finest spices and chocolates.  Her dreams also included scriptures being included with the goodies.  Well Diane’s dreams came to life when she opted to leave corporate America and her minimum two-hour daily commute to open her own business – especially to spend more time with her son and business partner, Augie.  Isn’t that entrepreneurship at its best?  Oh, and every order placed with Soul Food includes prayer for the sender, recipient and even the person who ships the package!  They back in the Hickory Flat community, but they ship world-wide.

On a community-wide basis, Diane and Augie have generously supported organizations such as:  the Chamber, East Cherokee Baseball, Boys Scouts of America, Kiwanis Club, Optimist Club, Paws for Disabilities, Cherokee County Schools, Cherokee Volunteer Aging Council and many Metro Atlanta churches.

Please join me in congratulating Diane Oberkrom on being named the April Entrepreneur of the Month.  Be sure to check her out at www.TheSoulFoodMarket.com.
